Mastering the
Art of Assists Series

September 13, 2025 - April 11, 2026

Being of service

In the Jivamukti tradition, hands-on guidance during the practice is referred to as "assists" rather than "adjustments" or "corrections." This term is used intentionally so as not to imply that something is flawed or in need of fixing. Instead, it evokes a sense of partnership and support. To assist is to be of service — to accompany the practitioner with presence and intention, offering guidance that encourages them to explore their practice in a fresh and expansive way.

    2. Standing

    3. Balancing

    5. Twists

    6. Inversions

    7. Backbends

  • Learn and pronounce the names of the āsanas in Sanskrit.

  • Develop the skills to assess and provide optimal support for yoga students in specific poses.

  • Hone the skill of assisting a vinyasa sequence in a fluid, seamless way.

  • Practice assisting a 45-minute class centered around the particular category of āsanas of that workshop.

“Frances's approach to teaching really reflects her passion not just to yoga, but in sharing her knowledge. Her Art of Assists workshop left me with a deeper understanding, rather than memorization, of how each alignment guides the assists. I'm excited and feel fortunate to continue learning from her.”
